Abstract

[Cognate Application, 14,771/10.] Filtering.-Dustseparators consisting of filtering- tubes of textile fabric, either stationary or rotary, are kept clean by movable brushes or scrapers with spirally or helically arranged bristles or blades located within the tubes, such brushes or scrapers permitting f r e e access of dustladen air to the filtering-surface at all times. The helical brushes e, Fig. 2, are reciprocated in stationary filtering-tubes a, being attached to cords f passing over pulleys on an oscillating shaft h. Modifications are described, in which the brushes are (1) equal in length and diameter to the tubes and merely rotated therein; (2) mounted on endless chains so as to move up one tube and down an adjacent tube; (3) equal in length but considerably less in diameter than the tubes, both tube and brush being adapted to rotate. Brushes as in (3) when arranged within horizontal tubes serve as worm conveyers for removing deposited dust to one end of the tube; a trough containing a worm conveyer may, however, be arranged beneath a brush located within an horizontal tube
