Abstract
5602. Dooley, J. D. March 7. Seals.-In rings or labels for marking pigeons, poultry, &c., of the type in which a spring tongue on one end of a metal band is adapted to engage with a box on the other end of the band, the box is made solid and jointless. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the tongue c which is stamped out of the band a engages with an inturned hook portion b<2> of the box b. In a modification, shown in Fig. 7, the tongue c engages with a recess b<1> in the interior of the box b. Another recess b<5> may be provided to engage with a second tongue c'. The recesses may be formed in the sides of the box b, and the tongues c, c<1> stamped from the edges of the band, as shown in Fig. 12. The box b may be separate from the band as shown in Fig. 14, one end being adapted to screw on to the band, or both ends of the separate box may be connected to the band by spring tongues. The ring may be formed from a tube, the band portion being formed by flattening the tube, in which case the tubular portion may be of the length shown in Fig. 1, or may extend nearly to the tongue c.
