Abstract

1804. Kehrig, P. Jan. 24. Siphons. - Relates to siphons of the type wherein starting is effected by means of a compressible bulb, and wherein the flow of liquid is automatically stopped at a predetermined level by the closing of an air-escape tube within the siphon, and consists in providing a flap valve at the delivery end of the siphon and a screw at the inlet end for adjusting it at such a distance from the bottom of the vessel to be emptied as to prevent deposited matter from being carried over. The siphon d, Fig. 3, having the bulb e, flap valve f, and screw b, is adjustably mounted in a bung i for insertion in the barrel &c. to be filled. An airescape tube h communicates with an air outlet chamber containing a ball valve k which closes the orifice m as soon as liquid enters the tube, and so prevents further flow.
