29,491. Chemische Fabrik Griesheim- Elektron. Dec. 23, 1908, [Convention date]. Sodium hydrate. -- Anhydrous crystals of caustic soda are obtained by concentrating a solution to about 90 per cent, cooling until crystals separate abundantly, and then adding, while stirring, a less concentrated lye, whereupon the mixture may be further cooled and the anhydrous crystals separated by a hydroextractor. The mother-liquor will contain the impurities, and may be concentrated and again treated until the percentage of impurities becomes too high.
