Beat-up motions.-In looms wherein freelyfalling lays are used to beat up the wire cloth &c. with a double stroke, the interval between the main and return strokes is made adjustable. A ring - piece k carrying two return-stroke cams n, which actuate the double - armed lever d connected to the lay, is adjustably fixed to the cam-disk body i, which is fixed to the harness shaft g, and carries the two main-stroke cams m. The ring-piece k is provided with curved slots o in which fit screws p, these screws also fitting in holes in the cam-disk body part i, whereby the cams n may be adjusted relatively to the cams m, and then fixed in their adjusted position. In a modification, a cam-disk body part provided with only one main-stroke cam is fixed to a shaft driven from the harness shaft g at twice the speed thereof; a part carrying the returnstroke cam is adjustably connected to the camdisk body part. The invention is shown applied to a loom having automatic electro-mechanical lay-braking action.
