Abstract

27,595. Murray, T. R., and Philip, W. L. Nov. 26. Shoots.-Telescoping shoots are combined with spiral surfaces for destroying the velocity of the issuing stream of material. In one form, Fig. 1, the spiral is at the lower end a of the shoot and the telescoping is effected in a vertical tubular portion. In another form, Fig. 2, the spiral is continuous through the length of the shoot and its pitch is kept constant in some part to enable the telescoping action to be obtained. The shovelshaped piece c may be arranged at the outlet of the shoot.
