Abstract

Brakes, arrangement and disposition of; controlling different functions by same handle or lever. - In Fig. 4 arrangements are shown whereby an electro-magnetic clutch in a motorvehicle transmission gear or the like is made to act as a brake. The clutch comprises a magnetic pole-ring a driven from the prime-mover shaft, and acting on magnetic drums on the road axles r<1>, r<2>. Depression of the pedal 10 first disengages the usual friction clutch 7 and then locks the pole-ring a by means of a brakeblock 16. The magnetizing-current of the polering, which meanwhile has been interrupted by a switch (not shown), is then re-established through the contacts 12 so that the drums on the road axles are braked electro-magnetically.
