26,359. Demetriade, C. G., Jonescu, C., and Coanda, J. Nov. 13. Explosives.-Relates to chlorate explosives of the kind described in Specification 5985/05, in which cellulose is an ingredient, and consists in replacing the cellulose with collodion or a solution of nitro-cellulose in acetone, acetic ether, or amyl ether. The explosive now contains potassium chlorate 60 parts, mono-nitrobenzene 24 parts, picric acid or tri-nitrotoluene 16 parts, and collodion 4 parts. The potassium chlorate is immersed in a solution of picric acid or tri - nitro - toluene in mononitro-benzene, drained, and mixed with collodion, say of about 10 per cent nitration, or other solution of nitro-cellulose. The mass is thoroughly masticated at a temperature of about 35‹ C. to evaporate the ether and alcohol. The residual jelly is filled into cartridges Sodium nitrate or carbonate or barium carbonate may be added to prevent the formation of hydrochloric acid fumes when explosion takes place.
