Abstract

Sleepers and securing rails thereto.-U-shaped sleepers of reinforced concrete extend longitudinally beneath the rails, and have large channels to receive the rail 1 and also the asphalt paving 7, which prevents moisture from reaching the sleepers. The rails are secured by bolts 3 and bars 5 of channel-iron which join the sleepers 2 and extend into the cement or like bed to anchor the sleepers.
