23,887. Gleason, F. J. Oct. 29, 1908, [Convention date]. Jackets and covers.-In forming the tyre, a strip of vulcanizable rubber 11 coated with lubricant is wound_ on; a fusible mandrel 10. Over the strip 11 are assembled a piece of unvulcanizable rubber 12, and a layer 13 and a block 14 of vulcanizable rubber. A strip 15 of hard rubber composition, formed, for example, of rubber, sulphur, and finely-divided mica, is placed in position, and the whole of the parts thus assembled are wrapped with layers of vulcanizable. rubber and frictioned fabric 16, arranged in alternation and surmounted by a crescent-shaped layer of vulcanizable rubber 17. The mould is clamped upon the assembled parts of the tyre and heated to, say, 250-285‹ F. Specification 261./08 is referred. to.
