Abstract

22,992. F³rstenau, R. Oct. 8. Testing and estimating.-The amount of sugar in diabetic urine is estimated by measuring the pressure exerted on an elastic diaphragm by the carbonic acid produced on fermentation. The diaphragm a is placed between closed compartments b, c, the former containing a removable tube e for the urine, and the latter the indicating-device g, which is thereby protected from liquid-spray. The compartments can be opened to the atmosphere by unscrewing a collar l, so as to eliminate the effects of variations in pressure; changes of temperature are provided for by suitably proportioning the compartments. Specification 2774/98, [Class 28, Cooking &c.], is referred to.
