Subaqueous sound signalling.-In apparatus for producing sound-waves for submarine signalling &c., a hollow body is vibrated by rotating magnetic fields so that emission is effected in all directions. The pole-pieces c are supplied from the three-phase generator e as shown. The laminated armatures b are attached to the hollow cylindrical vibrating body a. In a modification, the vibrating body is itself magnetic, and is vibrated uniformly round its circumference at any moment. The body may also be vibrated by means of rotating magnets supplied with alternating current.
