Abstract
20,945. Hicks, P. S. Sept. 14, 1908, [Convention date]. Animals, catching.-In an animal trap, three boxes 1, 2, 3, Fig. 1, are placed together so that they form three compartments, which are separated by the meshed or perforated sides 4 of the outer boxes 2, 3, and are secured in position by a metal covering 6 fixed by metal strips 7. Openings 18 in the outer boxes are closed by sliding doors 17 supported by cables 26 at the ends of oscillatory beams 24, which are suspended from a cross-bar 15 supported by standards 12 fitting into loops 11 on metal strips 9. Trigger devices 31 are suspended at the opposite ends of beams 24 in a similar manner, and pass through openings 32, Fig. 3, in the metal covering 6. The lower parts of the beams 31 are provided with bevelled projections 35, and shouldered ends 33 pass through apertures 34 in the bottom of boxes 2, 3 and engage the under face of one edge of the said aperture. The central box contains bait, which is inserted through an opening 37 closed by a door 38.
