Abstract

20,231. Wimperis, H. E., and Elphinstone, G. K.. B. Sept. 3. Clinometers.-Accelerations, gradients, inclinations, the efficiency of engines, &c. are measured by means of an eccentrically-weighted and horizontally-pivoted disk b operating a pointer g. The disk is damped by means of a magnet, and can be made free from the influence of inclinations other than that in the direction of measurement by providing another eccentric disk or mass f, the spindles of the two disks being geared together and the weights being suitably disposed.
