ELectroliers. - In an adjustable electric - lamp pendant, the supply wires 1, 2, Fig. 2, connecting the lamp-holder with the ceiling rose &c. 7 are separated throughout their length ; at the ceiling end they are separated by grooves 4, 5 in pulleys 3 attached to the rose 7 and the weight 6 respectively, or by pairs of singly - grooved pulleys ; at an intermediate point by an insulating-piece 15, carried by the weight 6, having one hole to take each wire ; and at the lamp end by holes 14, Fig. 6, in an insulating- plug 13 adapted to fit into the top of the holder. The wires may be knotted to support the lamp and shade, and an ordinary cord grip with separating- holes may replace the plug 13. The cover of the rose may have a central hole 8, Fig. 3, threaded to take a stopper 9 adapted to form two separating- holes with recesses 10, 11 in the cover, or the wires may be separated by holes 19, Fig. 9, the cover being fixed by a nut 18 engaging a central threaded piece 16 on the rose, or separating-holes may be provided in the piece 16. These constructions allow the cover to be removed without twisting the wires. The insulation of the supply wires may be thin, or the wires may be bare. The plug 13 may be fitted in the body of a multiple holder, and additional grooves and holes may be provided if there are more than two supply wires.
