Abstract

13,958. Frappier, H. G., and Frappier, J. H. June 14. Thread-guides.-The shank of the wire 24, which is bent as shown, Figs. 1 and 2, and carries a grooved antifriction roller 30, passes through the bolt 19 and is adjustably screwed to the lappet 12 by a nut 22. The nut is hollowed out at 23 so that the bolt need only be screwed at its end, a washer being rendered unnecessary. The roller 30 is countersunk at 31 so as not to bind at the corner of the bent wire. The sheet-metal lappet 12 is hinged to the thread board by projections 16, which are bent around the hinge pin 14, attached to the plate 11, and a projection 17, which passes down over the pin 14, forms a stop to limit the downward movement of the lappet. This stop is protected by the sides of the lappet from the accumulation of lint &c. In a modification, a wooden lappet attached to the thread board by ordinary hinges is used, and the shank of the wire passes through a hole in the lappet, which is recessed for the reception of the securing-nut.
