Centrifugal speed indicators; transmission mechanism; particulars p e e d alarms.-In centrifugally-operated speed - indicators provided with an audible alarm and with adjustable friction gearing, a signal is provided to show by day or night the speed at which an alarm is to be sounded. The governor weights 5 are mounted on arms carried by a disk 4, which is driven by a disk 3 adjustably mounted on a square shaft 2 driven from the vehicle. The position of the disk 3 is adjusted by a fork 7 and a slide 35, the slide being moved by a screwed spindle 40 and connected by a link 36 to a sector 10, which carries three coloured glasses 37 illuminated by a lamp 11 and visible through an opening 38 in the casing. The spindle of the sector 10 further carries a signal 8 formed with an opening 39 and provided with a pointer at its lower end moving over a scale. The outward movement of the governor weights is communicated to the indicating-hand through the inclined edges of a disk 16, a shaft 14, a sleeve 20, a lever 21, a spring-controlled shaft 22, and a toothed sector 26. A spring - controlled hammer 30, when struck by the weights 5, sounds a bell 6. A register may be employed to count the movements of the signal, and means may be provided to lock the signal in any required position.
