7346. Samuelson, E. March 27. Roller mills.-Relates to means for adjusting the movable roll, and to the feedhopper and feed-plate of a roller mill. T h e boss of the adjusting-wheel E, Fig. 1, is screwed internally and externally with threads of different pitches. The internal thread engages with a threaded tube or sleeve F carrying the headed bolt G that supports the swing bracket or arm B of the movable roll A. The external thread engages an internally-screwed sleeve D, which rests upon a block d carried by the eccentric pin c on the end of the shaft C. A pin f working in a s!ot in the slide D prevents the sleeve F from turning. Or the hand-wheel E, Fig. 4, may carry a wormwheel T gearing with a worm n on a hand shaft n<1> carried in an eccentric sleeve fixed in the sliding bracket D ; the sleeve can be rotated so as to throw the worm n in or out of gear, and is locked by means of a small spring bolt. The lever J for throwing the movable roll A out of action is pivoted at j and connected by a screw L to a lever K on the shaft C. The lever J is locked by a bolt N operated by an eccentric pin on a handshaft, and the shaft C can then be turned by means of the screw L and hand-nut M. Or the lever J may be keyed on the shaft C and provided with a slot S, Fig. 9, to receive the spring bolt N, which has a worm-wheel T gearing with a worm t on a hand-shaft t<1>. The hinged door R, Fig. 1, is connected to the main frame by a door check Q having an air cushion or spring beneath the piston, and is held open by a small spring bolt engaging in a slot or recess in the piston-rod. Or a spring or rubber stop T', Fig. 2, fitting in a recess in the side frame may be used. The bar V<2>, Fig. 3, which carries the swinging feed-plate W, is provided at its ends with adjustable nuts V having centres working in holes in adjustable blocks V<1> on the main frame of the hopper.
