Feeding-appliances for animals.-In a feeding-appliance for game, poultry, &c., a circular trough c is provided with a central pedestal e carrying a cross-bar f, which is engaged by the hooked end g' of a rod g passing through a boss h<1>. A number of resilient wires h<2>, secured to a rim j fitting the top rim of the trough c, pass upwards to form a skeleton dome h<3>, and are fixed to the part h<1>; or they may be fixed to the lower edge of a metal dome k supported on the top h'. The lower ends of the wires h<2> are secured to a rim j fitting the rim of the trough c. The upper end of the rod g is provided with a handle l having cam-shaped extremities l<1>, which are pivoted to the rod g. A loose cone m may also be placed over the pedestal in the trough c, or the centre of the trough may be pressed up to form a cone. When the device is used for feeding chickens or young birds, the boss h<1> is formed to receive an outer boss, to which are fixed wires secured at the bottom to a ring encircling the trough c. The outer boss is secured to the boss h<1> so that the said wires are midway between the wires h<2>. An overhanging dome may also be provided to protect the food.
