Strip-controlled, pneumatic, type-lever actions for braille type; letter-spacing mechanism ; papercarriages; paper-heating arrangements.-(1) A record-strip produced in a pneumatic perforating- machine is used to control a pceumatic machine for embossing paper with braille characters. The embossing-machine, which may produce simultaneously any number of different lines, consists of dies a, Fig. 1, carried on the ends of spring- returned levers m, which are operated by rods k through toggle mechanism h and bellows g when the perforations in the stencil d come over passages i in a suction trunk. (2) The paper is supported .on a carriage c moved forwards by a feed-bar e operated by a bellows g<1>. (3) The dies coact with a matrix o, which may be indented, and may be provided with a gas heater p. Paper of any thickness, or a number of superposed sheets may be operated upon.
