Abstract

4160. Cusack, H. E. Feb. 19. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Levers, locking. -The slot in the quadrant of a setting and retaining device for the change-speed lever of a motor road vehicle is formed with a corrugated upper edge so as to indicate to the driver when the lever is approaching each notch and vet allow uninterrupted movement of the lever for any desired number of notches in either direction. The slot f, provided with the usual notches g for the spring- mounted retaining-bolt d, also has corrugations h opposite to the notches. When changing speed, the bolt is raised to abut against the corrugated surface by means of the trigger b. When the main lever a is moved, the corrugations oscillate the bolt and trigger as each notch is approached. When the desired notch is reached, the trigger is released, and the bolt engages the notch.
