3609. Bechen, G. von. Feb. 13. Rotary cylindrical valves. - In a reversing- valve for regenerative furnaces of the kind comprising a valve f pivoted in a cylindrical casing A having four openings for the passage of the gases, the valve is carried between disklike ends g, which prevent leakage of gas and also relieve the pivots from the weight of the valve. Packing-strips h, i are provided on the ends and on the surfaces of the valve in contact with the casing. The valve is watercooled, and the flow of water is directed by a strengthening-partition m. The long faces e of the valve are sufficiently wide to prevent escape of gas during the reversal of the currents.
