Dolls.-In dolls, formed by sewing together representations in linen &c. of the back and front of the figure and then stuffing the inside, the back and front are made from distorted photographs, Fig. 2, of the original, Fig. 1. The doll thus produced is normal in appearance, since the distortion in the photographs neutralizes the distortion produced when the doll is stuffed. The distorted photographs may, for example, be produced by photographing the image of the original in a convex cylindrical mirror.
