Abstract

21,987. Beaumont, R., and Hollis, T. Oct. 17. Loom dobbies; shedding-levers.-The hooks j of Keighley or lever dobbies are provided with additional hooks or heels 3, so that the draw-bars n, o may return the hooks positively, and also with projections 13 on their upper parts, which can engage bars 14 fixed to the framework above the hooks and thus ensure the formation of a proper shed. The positively-operated balk levers g are connected by rigid connexions, such as described in Specification No. 18,071, A.D. 1907, to the healds, which are thus positively operated. The balk levers may be carried by levers 7 connected to bars 15, which are connected by pins 18 or 19 to the slotted arms of three-armed levers 8 linked to two-armed levers 9, the levers 8, 9 being connected to the healds. The levers 7 may be shaped as shown by dotted lines and may be connected by rods 20 and double-armed levers to three-armed levers, which are connected to the bottoms of the healds and to other double-armed levers connected to the healds. The draw-knives n, o may be connected by right and left handed screws and nuts to the driving-levers, and their inclination may be adjusted to bring all the warp threads carried by the different healds into the same plane. In modifications, balk levers are connected directly to the bars 15 or are slotted to receive dies, which are loosely supported on a spindle, or are supported by projections on pendent levers fulcrumed to the frame. Means are also described for positively operating the balk levers by means of pairs of draw-knives coupled together by left and right handed screws.
