Abstract

18,549. Wilson, A. Sept. 4. Compressed-air engines and other fluid-pressure engines for driving derrick cranes and hoists has three single-acting cylinders arranged radially and driving a single crank. Distribution is effected by a rotary valve N driven by a square end d' on the crank-shaft. The valve has two ports G, G<1> communicating with exhaust and inlet passages in a cock L, which is adjustable for reversing. In the position shown, admission takes place through the passages K, I', G<1>, and exhaust through the passages G, I, K<2>; when the cock L is reversed, admission takes place through the passages K, I, G, and exhaust through the passages G, I<1>, K<2>.
