Contents, delivering and withdrawing ; fittings, internal.-A box for sheets of paper, prospectuses, printed matter, &c. comprises a body 1, Fig. 1, having a rectangular opening 4 with in-turned edges 5, 6, which is hinged to a supporting- board 3. When the box is closed, the paper is pressed on to the edges 5, 6 by a plate 12 with a tail-piece 13, carried by a rod 10 acted on by a spring 11. Part of the mcst forward sheet is bent through the opening 4 when the roller 9 is rotated. The rear part 14, Fig. 5, of the box bottom may be inclined to form a projection 15 which replaces the edge 5, and the pressure plate 20 may be actuated by weights 23, 24. In another form, the weight of the box itself acts on the pressure plate by means of pins 27, Fig. 6, engaging hooks 25, 26 on the arms carrying the plate. The box slides down the plate 3, being guided by the rod 28, notch 29, and retaining-bar 30. The box when secured in an horizontal position has a pressure plate 35, Fig. 7, with lugs sliding in grooves 36, the lower part of the plate being integral with a triangular projection adapted to bear on the paper block. In another form of construction, a pressure plate having a T-shaped plate secured to its lower surface is used. The frictional roller 9 may be replaced by a cylinder or roller which occupies the entire width of the box and has secured to it in a helical fashion a strip of frictional material, or is provided with rings 42.
