Abstract

13,660. Keighley, F. C. Oct. 16, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Shoring and strutting; tie-rods.-Mine props 2, divergent towards their upper ends, are connected at the top by ties 5 which support the roof timbering 9. The props are bevelled at the upper ends to bear against bevelled blocks 4 driven into the roof. Wedges 7, driven in between the loops of the ties and the posts, and supported by friction or by spikes 8, prevent the ties from slipping. Each tie is formed from a single cable or rod bent upon itself to form loops and having the free ends secured to, or coiled about the body portion.
