Abstract

13,060. Cammell, Laird, & Co., and Cornthwaite, D. June 19. Rolling; forging; stamping.-An oscillating roll or anvil F is mounted on a centre E and is operated in one direction by a cam J and links H<2>, H and is returned by the action of a spring I or weight. A continuously revolving roll A has a working block D adjusted by screws D<2>. The surface of the block D, and of that of a block G carried by the anvil F, has the necessary configuration to produce the blanks. In operation the blank is placed on the anvil while stationary, the block D descends and the blank is gripped. The anvil at this point moves and the blank is forced forwards. In the production of tapered blanks a preliminary operation takes place between jaws L sliding on a table Q and operated by an eccentric M<2> on a shaft N.
