[Patent of Addition to No. 18,353, A.D. 1907.] Planing.-In planing-machines with cushioning- mechanism of the type described in Specification No. 18,353, A.D. 1907, the chains are provided with shock-absorbing means. The chain f, Fig. 1, is connected to a rod b which slides in lugs a on the bed and carries a collar e communicating pressure to the forward lug. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the chain is connected to a rod j, a collar on which presses against a slide i which communicates pressure through a spring to a ram g connected to the bed.
