Abstract
9290. Justice, P. M., [Reinoehl, C. W., and Weaver, B. L.]. April 29. Crossings or frogs for railways are provided with a renewable hard tough metal bearing - surface, free from bolt holes or - the like, which is retained in position by a semi-steel casting or base-block. Fig. 1 shows a plan of a frog so constructed, and Figs. 3 and 5 show transverse sections along the lines B-B, D-D respectively. The hard metal block is arranged between the wing rails 2, and comprises the wing portions 3, point tongue 5, and grooves 7. The sides of the -block are clamped between the inner faces of the heads of the wing rails by the bolts 12, which pass through holes in the lower or base block 11. To afford a pick-up for false wheel flanges, the wing rails have inclined grooves 13 cut in them parallel and adjacent to the stock rails 1.
