204. Watson, L. J., and Lester, A. E. Jan. 3. Sights.-Locking-device for sight-bar. The end b of the stud is eccentric, and the bar is raised by rotating the stud within the portion a of the mounting. The end c is reduced and is provided with a thread of different pitch from the part a. A ring d is threaded on the reduced end c and has an external thread which is continuous with the thread on the part a. when the ring is screwed home. After adjustment, the ring d is partially unscrewed by a special spanner while the stud is held against rotation, and the stud is thereby drawn against its screw-threads and locked. To remove the stud, a tool is used comprising a stud k, threaded at both ends, and provided with a square m to carry a piece n, which has projections n<1> to fit into slots in the ring d and is retained by a nut o. A piece p threaded on to the other end of the stud has projections p<1> fitting into slots in the eccentric portion b, and is secured by a nut g. The stud k is turned by means of a sqnare portion r until the ring d is sufficiently turned to unlock the stud a, after which the stud and ring are withdrawn by turning the piece p. Instead of being screwed externally the stud a may engage the gun mounting A by means of a collar, and instead of being reduced at the end c, it may be formed with an enlarged threaded recess to receive the ring d.
