Abstract
27,426. Thwaites, J. H. Dec. 12. Pigments.-Lithopone is prepared by treating the liquor from pyrites, pyrites cinder, &c. The popper is first removed, and then zinc carbonate, oxide or both are added to remove iron and aluminium. Any lead, arsenic, &c. are precipitated by a small quantity of a sulphide. The zinc is then thrown down by barium sulphide &c. as lithopone. Insufficient sulphide is added to precipitate all the zinc. Specification No. 27,515, A.D. 1906, [Abridgment Class Metals and alloys], is referred to.
