Abstract
20,126. Callow, A. E. Sept. 9. Staples.-The limbs of staples are formed to make them curl in predetermined directions when driven in. The limbs b, c of the staple a, Fig. 1, are formed with oblique downward cuts f, outward projecting ridges g, and curved points e which cause the limbs to curl, as shown in dotted lines, when driven in. The other sides of the limbs may also be notched as shown at f<2>. The staples are designed so that the limbs curl in the same or different predetermined directions. The points may be rounded as at e, Fig. 9, instead of curved, and the cuts f and ridges g may be on the outside of the curve, Fig. 9.
