In two-stroke engines wherein the gas valve is co-axial with the air valve, the air valve c is arranged inside the gas valve b which moves in the casing a. The upper portion of this casing serves as an air supply, the air entering by the ports d. The lower part of the casing forms a gas supply under the control of the valve b. The air valve opens before the gas valve, but both close together. The gas and air mix directly they issue through the open valves.
