Abstract

11,501. Tudor, H. May 16. Drawings to Specification. Electric traction.-Relates to a system in which self-propelled vehicles, each having generator and motor apparatus, run in contact with an electric conductor the function of which is constantly to ensure an exchange of energy between the vehicles according to the momentary difference between the energy generated and absorbed by each of them. The generating-apparatus of each vehicle always works at full load, and the conductor gives a constantly balanced distribution of the electric energy generated. A battery of accumulators may be used in combination with the balancing-conductor. On an extended system where few vehicles are running, and are consequently far apart, electric energy may also be supplied to the conductor from an outside source. In the case of an alternating- current system, the current fed in is preferably at high potential, and the vehicles are fitted with transformers so that their motors may still work at low potential.
