Curing Cements, Concrete, And Artificial Stone
(AREA)
Abstract
9633. Thom, T. M. April 25. Stone, artificial; stone, artificial, hardening and preserving.-Relates to the manner in which carbonic acid is used in treating blocks formed by mixing stone or marble chips or blast-furnace slag or mixtures thereof with lime, and slaking and moulding. The blocks are placed in a closed vessel, and the air is exhausted therefrom. The carbonic acid is then admitted first at a pressure considerably below that of the atmosphere, and this pressure is gradually increased until it is considerably above atmospheric pressure.
