Abstract
6899. Lundberg, A. P., Lundberg, G. C., and Lundberg, p. A. March 22. Switches.-A twopole three-way three - position tumbler, key, or like switch, is formed with contacts carried on both sides of the contact - arm and co-operating with five fixed contacts, which are so arranged that two of them are common to each of the three positions and are connected to the leads. A sprin movement is pro - vided for maintaining the knob lever in the three positions. Circuit connexions are shown in the Specification for con trolling lamps or other apparatus from two positions by means of two of these switches. The lower e n d of the lever 1 has a pin carr ying rolling sleeves 4 with flanges 4<a> working in slots 6 in the contact-arm carrier 5, to which is attached the contact-arm 7 consisting of a block of insulating- material provided on each side with six contactstuds connected together as shown in Fig. 12. The lever 1 is locked in its three positions by a spring 9 of the shape shown. Figs. 13, 14, and 15 represent diagrammatically the position of the studs on the contact-arm with respect to the fixed contacts 10 ... 14, in each of the three positions into Which the contact-arm can be moved.. The fixed contacts 10 ... 14 are represented as leads. Fig. 13 shows the contact-arm in its first position. The contact 10 is connected by studs 17,19 with the contact 14, and the contact 11 is connected by studs 23, 20 with the contact 12. Fig. 14 shows the contact-arm in its second or central position. The contact 10 is connected by studs 16, 24 with the contact 11, and the contact 12 by studs 21, 20 with the contact 13. Fig. 15 shows the contact-arm in its third position. The contact 10 is connected by studs 15, 21 with the contact 13, and the contact 14 by studs 18, 22 with the contact 12. It will be seen that contacts 10, 12 are in use in all three positions of the contactarm. Various connexions are shown in the Specification for connecting lamps singly, in parallel, or in series, As an example, Fig. 16 shows one connexion allowing either one lamp alone, or two lamps in parallel or off position, to be obtained from either switch X or Y independently.
