Abstract
3486. Meys, J. Feb. 12. Cream - separators. - Relates to the feeding- arrangements and liner plates of cream-separators. The liner plates are elliptical in plan; to the uppermost b is attached a dish c, also elliptical, which receives the incoming milk from the spout k. The milk flows through openings f in the ends of the dish c down channels h, which conduct it to the lower plates and prevent, it from mixing with the cream in the centre of the drum. The skim milk passes down the spaces between the drum and the ends of the short axes of the liner plates, where it deposits impurities, and escapes under the false bottom l. The liner plates may be of the form shown in Fig. 6, or may be placed hollow side up.
