Abstract

1391. Wallin, B. H. Feb. 6, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Aeroplanes.-A vibratory aeroplane for aerial machines is formed of a framework a, Fig. 1, which is built up of a number of tubes &c. and supports a number of vanes b, arranged to open on the upward stroke and to close on the downward stroke of the plane. The vanes b, Fig. 4, are of canvas mounted on laths f, and are provided at the pivoted side with a hemmed portion through which passes a wire e. The wire e is wound around or otherwise secured to the framework a and is supported by wires h which pass through the upper side of the vanes b. The amount of opening of the vanes is limited by cords g attached to the ends of the vanes; in the curved form shown in Fig. 2, the amount of opening increases towards the tip of the plane.
