Abstract

1332. Vickery, W., and Vickery, G. Jan. 18. Fastenings, spring-catch and seal. In a seal fastening for a box or basket, the spring catch 10, which serves as the locking-means, is adapted to be released by a lever 13, which is pivoted in the casing and provided with a cam-shaped end 16 to act on the catch, and to which access can be had only after tearing the eal in the recess 18 in the front of the casing. The casing is made up of three parts, 'the. back plate. 2 bent into trough shape; the plate 4, Fig. 4, which covers the trough 1 in the back plate to form the housing for the spring catch 10 ; and the front plate 3 secured to the part 2 in such a way as to leave spacing between the two to receive the seal card and address &c. label, which is to appear through the opening 17. The form of hasp 19 shown in Fig. 2 is especially adapted for attachment to baskets, and that shown in Fig. 10 for boxes. In each case, there is a depending flange 20 for the purpose of covering the top opening of the seal receptacle to prevent the opening of the box &c. without the seal being first torn.
