Abstract
29,521. Walker, A. Dec. 28. Fire-escapes.-A telescopic or other ladder 1 is provided with a series of platforms or receptacles comprising netting &c. 4, mounted in light metal frames 3 pivoted to the ladder. The platforms are brought into an horizontal position against the windows of a building by means of chains or ropes 6 and winches. The ladder rungs immediately above the pivots of the platforms may be removable, in order to facilitate the passage of a person to the outside of the ladder or to a shoot. The ladder may be mounted on a turntable 30 on a trolly platform 24, and is raised'and lowered by means of a chain or wire rope 27 and winch 26. Two hinged struts 28 serve as additional supports to the ladder when its upper end is not resting against a building, while two struts 29 prevent the trolly platform from tilting when the ladder is lowered to an approximately horizontal position.
