Abstract

28,066. Decies, Lady M. G. Dec. 10. Scoring and marking.-Relates to a score recorder for golf and other games, of the type which comprises a number of disks adapted to record the score of each hole, and a scoring-device for registering the total score, which is actuated each time that one of the disks is moved on. In the form shown, the scoring-disks 10 are provided with hollow pinions 11, which revolve on studs screwed into a disk 1. The disk 1 has a milled edge, and revolves on a stud 6 fixed to a back disk 2, the disks 1, 2 being formed with flanges 3, 4, and being connected together by a plate 7, which is fixed to the stud 6 by means of a screwed disk 8. The disks 10 are arranged in two concentric rows ; the disk 1 is held in proper position, relatively to the disks 10, by a spring 18 which engages notches 19 in the disk 1. The disk 10 can be rotated to indicate the score of a hole by depressing a knob 12 attached by a rod 13 to a spring-controlled plate 14, which by means of a pawl 15 or 16, according to whether one of the inner or outer series of disks 10 are in the operative position, moves the disk 10 so that the correct score of the hole is indicated through an aperture 9. At the same time, the plate 14 also actuates a pawl 27, which rotates a toothed ring 25, and a pointer 24 on the ring moves over a marked segmental slot 23, and indicates the total number of strokes taken. When the disk 1 is rotated to bring a fresh disk 10 into operation, the ring 25 is held fixed relatively to the disk 1 by a spring 28. The disks 10 are also kept fixed relatively to the disk 1 during its rotation, by means of circular springs on the disk 1, with bent parts engaging the pinions 11. To re-set the disks 10, a segmental plate 36 is moved in guides 32 to cause one of its double set of teeth to engage a pinion 11, and the segment is then moved by a slide 31, which extends through the back of the plate, and the disk is brought back to zero. To reset the pointer 24, the ring 25 is held fixed to the disk 2 by a bent part 33 of the pawl 27, the part 33 being brought into engagement with the ring by depressing a slide 34 The pointer is then brought back to zero by rotating the disk 1.
