Saucepans; kettles; : lids.-The lid of a saucepan, kettle, &c. is provided with means for allowing the escape of steam and thus preventing the content from boiling over. A recess c, Fig., 3, is formed in the lid a, and has apertures b in its bottom and is provided with a spout c<1>. The recess c has, a spring, pressed hinged lid d which is opened by the pressure of the steam. The recess c and the apertures b may be formed at the same time as the lid a is stamped out. The apertures b may be used for straining off the liquid from the saucepan &c.
