Abstract
25,847. Lake, H. H., [Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron]. Nov. 15. Dyes, artificial.-Mordant azo dye-stuffs, which yield black violet tints on wool from an acid bath, and reddish-black tints fast to milling, potting, and acids by subsequent treatment with chromates, are obtained by combining 1:2- diazonaphthol-4-sulphonic acid with m-oxydiphenylamine or its homologues, such as Concentrated solutions of the components are employed, and alkali in excess may be present ; for example, caustic alkali alone or mixed with sodium carbonate or other alkali may be used ; or in place of excess of alkali, the diazo body may be poured into a solution of the sodium salt of the oxydiphenylamine &c. In diazotizing, sodium nitrite and sodium acetate are employed, but the latter may be replaced by other alkaline salts, such as formates or oxalates.
