Saws and other tools.-The blades of reciprocating, circular, or band saws for marble and other stone are provided along their peripheries with a series of toothed cutting wheels, some or all of which are set obliquely to the plane of the blade so as to dispense with the use of sand. The wheels may be of ratchet, spur, or other form, and the cutting- edges of the teeth are made horizontal instead of perpendicular to the face of the wheel. In one form, Figs. 1 and 3, the wheels are journaled in recesses alternately on opposite sides of the blade from which they partly project. The blade may consist of two parallel plates c<1>, c<2>, Fig. 6, between which the wheels are mounted, the wheels a, which are situated at opposite sides of the wheels a<1> in the middle plane of the blade, being alternately inclined in opposite directions. As shown in Fig. 7, slots are made in the blade to receive the wheels. The tools may cut in the wet or dry state. The Specification in the original form, as published under the Act of 1901, comprises also a dressing-- tool for use on lathes, planing, shaping, or other stone-working machines, consisting of a fork-shaped carrier, Fig. 8, carrying toothed wheels a' shaped according to the moulding required. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
