Tobacco pipes.-In a tobacco pipe of the kind described in Specification No. 8860, A.D. 1895, the trap or plug is made very short, thus allowing an absorbent cartridge to be inserted in the stem if desired. The plug c, which is made of vulcanite or other non-absorbent material, fits into the end of the mouthpiece and is provided with an annular shoulder to prevent it from being, pushed too far into the mouthpiece, and with reduced extensions c, d projecting into the mouthpiece and the stem respectively. The plug does not touch the sides of the stem chamber.
