Lifts.-Relates to the arrangement in an electric lift or the like of the circuit-closing devices for starting the electromotor in either direction, and consists in providing three relay switches in a double controlling - circuit, which switches are adapted to close the field circuit of the motor with a constant direction of current and at the same time to reverse the direction of current through the motor armature. Fig. 1 shows the controlling- circuit and Fig. 2 the main circuits of the motor. The controlling-circuit has two branches, one leading through the relay coils 3, 5, the other through the coils 3, 6. The circuits are closed respectively by two push-buttons &c. 17, 18 actuated by the cage or by a part moving proportionally to the cage. The coils 3, 5, 6 are adapted to close the switches 41, 15, 12, and the closing of either of the switches 15, 12 automatically opens the circuit of the opposite coil by means of contacts 16, 13. The switch 41, Fig. 2, closes the circuit oE the field windings of the motor 27, while the centre contact 19 in conjunction with one or other of the switches 15, 12 closes the armature circuit for up or down movement. The contacts on the switch 41 are arranged so that the field circuit is closed slightly before the armature circuit. Specification No. 15,764, A.D. 1902, is referred to.
