Abstract

19,880. Schorn, F. Sept. 6. Yarns, warping.-To prevent the formation of notches in the reeds used in cone warping-machines, either the glass or other guide-rods or the reeds are given a continuous vertical reciprocating motion, or both are caused to move simultaneously in opposite directions as the reeds are moved across the machines. The guide-rod 1, Fig. 1, is mounted on a plate 4 fixed to a rod 6, which is reciprocated by a lever 14, one arm of which is acted on by a rod 12 actuated by eccentrics 9. The lever 14 may be operated by an eccentrically-seated shaft. In another form, a friction roller 18, Fig. 6, connected with the reed support 3 by a lever 17 and pressed by a spring against the machine side or a special bar, operates the rod 6 by means of a crank-pin 20 and connecting - means. In a further modification, a rope or chain 25, Fig. 8, fixed at its ends, passes around rollers 27 and a pulley 28 connected with a stirrup 33 by an eccentric pin 29, so that the rod 6 is actuated as the reed moves to and fro on the spindle 8. The rope 25 may pass round a pulley on a shaft, on one end of which is a crankpin connected with the rod 6. In another form, an undulated or zigzag bar 26, Fig. 13, acts on a lever 30, to operate the rod 6. The reed may be similarly reciprocated by any of the above devices.
