Abstract
17,830. Kuhn, E. Aug. 8. Rulers.-A blotting-appliance and ruler is formed of a series of independent rolled - up tube - like layers a of blotting-paper with the longitudinal edges of each layer brought together and fixed by adhesive to form a neat flush joint as at a', Fig. 2. These joints may be formed by the abutting edges, or may partly overlap as at g, Fig. 8. Layers c of ordinary paper &c. may be provided between the successive layers a, and these may have rows of perforations to form tear-off strips e, Figs. 1 and 2, for removal of the paper layer and the blotting- paper layer upon it. Other means for tearing-off the blotting-paper may be provided, such as wires e, Fig. 8, or paper strips &c. between or embedded in the layers. The layers may be upon a tubular core f, or a rod &c. which may be removable. When tubular, the appliance may be used as a case for pencils, pens, brushes, &c., its ends being provided with removable plugs i, Fig. 10. A measuring- scale may be marked on each blotting-paper layer.
