Abstract

The water-supply pipe e first fills the end compartment, and from this the water flows over the partitions to the others in succession, passing from one inverted chamber to the other by a U-pipe g. Gas generated passes by a pipe f<1> to the gas-holder. Cocks g<1> are supplied to allow air to escape when generation commences. Cocks h are used to draw off the water when cleaning. Ledges may be inserted in the carbide containers to support perforated trays. Any number of inverted chambers may be used.
